Yesterday was our first day at Geek Week at The Whitehaven Academy where Year 5 and 6 pupils from local primary schools came to the academy to learn how to code – day one was all about coding in ‘Scratch’  and ‘Kodu’ .

We also had the help of our very own lead trainer – 12 year-old Nikhil Woodruff who is an expert in both platforms and gave an initial overview of both packages and then provided one to one support throughout the day.

By the end of the day, all pupils had created at least one game including football, racing, quest, platform and strategy games.

The pupils are looking forward to developing more complex, multi-level and multiplayer games as the week progresses.
