We have implemented a new printing solution in two of our schools, The Whitehaven Academy and Werneth Primary School which improves print quality, saves time and is more energy efficient. Their new printers also default to black and white and double sided so they use less ink and paper.
The solution not only provides these great benefits to staff and the schools, it means they are also helping to support a number of community projects; the printing supplier calculates the carbon footprint of each printer then offsets these costs by supporting a selection of projects, most notably the Kenyan Energy Efficient Stove Project.
The Kenyan Energy Efficient Stove Project builds energy saving cooking stoves for villages in Kenya which replace the use of open fires for cooking and provide a good balance between cost, life expectancy and efficiency, whilst reducing the amount of firewood used. The locals also gain considerable benefits such as reduced costs and improved health and safety.
